Estrangement from the ordinary
Unreal and unexpected situations in a stilled world characterized by estrangement and mystery. That is how many of my paintings can best be characterized.
I paint from reality, but in doing so I let my imagination take its own course. Yet, I always stay close to reality in the sense that my paintings could very well present that reality.
I find my inspiration in whatever I notice in my direct surroundings: a dead tree, a derelict house or the accidental interplay of lines in a pool of water. These are themes that I like to use and which I place in a different setting.
I hope that the spectators are provoked to look at my work - and then look again. To make them wonder, smile, imagine.....
